Consequences
The eating disorder, anorexia nervosa, has various personal consequences, as it particularly impacts a person's physical and social health.
Firstly, anorexia has numerous physical consequences, such as severe mood swings, depression, lack of energy, weakness and slowed thinking. Also, it can cause poor memory, dry skin, brittle nails, constipation and bloating. This particular eating disorder can even result in tooth decay, gum damage, dizziness, fainting and headaches. These effects are mainly caused due to malnutrition, as people who have anorexia nervosa do not eat enough to have proper nutrition. As a result, anorexia has many negative effects on a person's physical health.
On the other hand, anorexia nervosa greatly affects a person's social life, as it often makes patients want to live in isolation or avoid social situations. Furthermore, it can lead to withdrawal from relationships, becoming quiet and people feeling guilty about the impact their disorder has on loved ones. This makes people with anorexia nervosa avoid gatherings. Unfortunately, people living with this mental illness are often abandoned by their friends, as told by many people with anorexia nervosa. Generally, people who have anorexia avoid social gatherings due to fear of food being involved, causing anorexia to greatly impact them socially. Thus, anorexia nervosa can cause various changes to a person's social health.
